Film: The Iron Wall PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 27 April 2008
Film: The Iron Wall Following the 1967 occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, more than 200 settlements and outposts have been built in these territories, in violation of international law. The Iron Wall exposes this phenomenon and follows the timeline, size, and population of the settlements, reveals how their construction has been a cornerstone of Israeli policy, and demonstrates how the Wall secures them as permanent and irreversible facts on the ground. This documentary warns that a contiguous and viable Palestinian state is becoming no longer possible, and that the chances for a peaceful resolution of the conflict are slipping away. Settlements and related infrastructures are impacting every aspect of life for all Palestinians from land confiscation, theft of natural resources, confiscation of the basic human rights, creation of an apartheid-like system, to the devastating impact in regards to the future of the region and the prospect of the peace process. Palestinians and Israelis began the peace process based on a very simple principle: land for peace. Settlements destroy that principle and create a land with no peace.

Bahrain: Democracy or Dictatorship? PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 16 January 2008
Bahrain: Democracy or Dictatorship? In this episode of The Agenda on Press TV hosted by journalist Yvonne Ridley, a panel discusses Bahrain: its political history, socio-economic place in the Middle East and more importantly, the program focuses on the plight of the nation's Shia population and the state discrimination that they face. The short history of Bahrain has been intertwined with a tale of systemic repression and suppression against the majority of the kingdom's citizens. In late 2006, Dr. Salah Al Bandar disclosed in a report, the infamous Bandargate scandal, a political scheme on the part of government officials to foment sectarian strife and ensure continual marginalisation and oppression of the island kingdom's Shia population. Within the key highlights of the report by Dr. Al Bandar were systematic action plans to manipulate elections to further marginalise Shias in Bahrain from the political process - this in addition to an extensive project of demographic engineering on the part of the Al-Khalifa monarchy, with the aim of altering the Shia tone to Bahrain's population.

Noam Chomsky on US Policy Towards Iran PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 25 November 2007
Noam Chomsky on US Policy Towards Iran Suppose it was true that Iran is helping insurgents in Iraq. I mean, wasn't the United States helping insurgents when the Russians invaded Afghanistan? Did we think there was anything wrong with that? I mean, Iraq's a country that was invaded and is under military occupation. You can't have a serious discussion about whether someone else is interfering in it. The basic assumption underlying the discussion is that we own the world. So if we invade and occupy another country, then it's a criminal act for anyone to interfere with it. What about the nuclear weapons? I mean, are there countries with nuclear weapons in the region? Israel has a couple of hundred nuclear weapons. The United States gives more support to it than any other country in the world.
