Bahrain: Democracy or Dictatorship? PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 16 January 2008
In this episode of 'The Agenda' on Press TV hosted by Yvonne Ridley, a panel discusses Bahrain; its political history, socio-economic place in the Middle East and more importantly, the program covers the plight of the nation's Shia population and the state-led discrimination that they face. The short history of Bahrain has been intertwined with a tale of systemic repression and suppression of the majority of the nation's citizens. In late 2006, Dr. Salah Al Bandar disclosed in a report the infamous Bandargate scandal; a political scheme on the part of government officials to foment sectarian strife and ensure continual marginalisation and oppression of the island kingdom's Shia population. Included amongst the key highlights of the report by Dr. Al Bandar, were systematic acton plans to manipulate upcoming elections.

God shall give victory to the oppressed in the world and make them the inheritors.

If the power of tyrants could win, the pharaohs would still rule on Earth.

May God provide relief to our dear brethren in Bahrain and give them patience and steadfastness.

I wonder why no body helps them to overthrow this tyrant al-khalifa and why the Shias who have power, like Iraq, Iran, Lebanon do not help them out?
There should be a revolution!

You are dreaming folks. YOU CANNOT change anything. YOU just waste your time. YOU wish only. Every one things he is right and the other is wrong. Listen guys think about something positive. You do not know except killing, bloodshed...ect. Think about something bring the nation together. What Shii did in Lebanon, Iraq, Iran...??? just more killings and more trouble. Try to be wise.

Ali Hassan save yourself the preaching.

Firstly, there is no problem with "wishing". Any being who has no aspirations/wishes is like a vegetable in a garden.

Secondly, it is amazing that you - one who speaks with hubris, similarly observed in tyrants, makes no comment about the oppression and punishment exacted upon Shias in Bahrain purely due to their being Shia.

Thirdly, what is "positive" according to your dictionary? Bush visited Bahrain recently. May be useful means sharing whisky with Bush?!

Lastly, Shias killed and brought trouble in Lebanon, Iraq and Iran? That's certainly news for me.

The only people who are blowing themselves up and causing havoc the world over (and desecrating the name of Islam in the process) happen to be from another religious orientation. An orientation that holds deep hostility of Shias as a matter of principle. A characteristic that you obviously share with them.
