Saudi Government Cordons Off Imams' Graves in Baqi PDF Print E-mail

Shock and disbelief was the initial response last Wednesday as pilgrims to the Jannat al-Baqi cemetery were faced with a barrier cordoning off the graves of the four Shia Imams buried there. According to a report by the Ahlul Bayt News Agency (ABNA), the graves of Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba, Imam Zainul Abideen, Imam Muhammad al-Baqir, and Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq (peace be upon them) in the al-Baqi cemetery have been barricaded, preventing individual from even casting their glance on the holy sites. Security personnel present at the site informed the pilgrims that the barriers will be permanent.

This is the latest act of oppression in the cruel reign of terror initiated against the holy sites of Islam by the al-Saud dynasty. In 1925, the shrines for the four Imams and countless other companions and members of the Prophet's household in the Jannat al-Baqi and Jannat al-Mualla cemeteries were demolished by the government. Since then, the Saudi government has continued to destroy numerous other relics of Islamic history in the name of preventing "polytheism".

Pilgrims who attempt to pay their respects to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his progeny), his family members, or his companions are often met with unrestrained and unchecked physical violence at the hands of the infamous religious police. Only a few weeks ago, several dozen Shia pilgrims from the eastern provinces of Saudi Arabia were physically attacked by the religious police. The very country that Muslims look towards to face the House of Allah five times a day has become breeding grounds for hatred towards the Prophet of Allah and his Household.

As the oppression continues with barriers and religious police being stationed at every corner of the al-Baqi graveyard to prevent pilgrims from going near the holy graves, the Shia pilgrims were not suppressed. Through simply the visual visitation, the pilgrims still gathered in the hundreds to pay their respects.

Grand Ayatollah Safi Gulpaygani has issued a statement calling the Saudi government's construction of the barrier a betrayal to the history of Islam.

"Such moves would lead to full annihilation of the historic monuments of the Islamic history, and the future generations would thus be left with no heritage as reference," he said, according to a report by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA). "Committing such moves is anti-cultural, since how can we claim ten thousand years from now that we had once had registered records of our Islamic civilization? Unfortunately, the Saudi government at our time resorts to annihilation of any sign that is left from the Prophethood era."

IRNA reports that following a meeting with Ayatollah Gulpaygani, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani has said that the Islamic Republic will pursue the matter with the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Re: Razia Sayed post, "Is it any wonder...." Your foul language is an embarrassment to us all. There is a way to express discontent and anger whether resorting to such juvenile, derogatory language. You need to elevate yourself above people who use similar language and unfortunately you have not. I dissociate myself from such base words.

One of the signs of re appearance of IMAM AL ASR A.S.is the banning of HAJJ pilgrimage , probably this is a start for that act. thinkover this act because the saudi govt. is controlled by western powers ,today the BAQEE was baricaded and tomorrow the same will be followed at MAKKAH E MUKARRAMAH by their orders.however these are the words of MASOOMEEN A.S.and are bound to happen, strenthen your faith not by abusing with foul words but by strictly adhering to there sayings. your brother in faith. WAS SALAAM.

It is not right to prevent any one from expressing his religious believes, the Saudi royal family has used religion to enslave the all Saudi people weather they are Suni or Shia. Why do we have to make it a conflict between us? it foolish to do so.
Every one should be free to practice his religion including Christian & Jews as long as no one is hurt.
Muslims should unite, never let any one divide them or turn them against each other. Only those who do not think & have no real believe in our great tolerant Islam would be fooled by this divisive tactics by dictators.

i have to say as a sunni muslim i find it disterbing the things that are happening. the destruction of history and the elimination to the people clime to the religion, and stating that the only version of islam that is to be practiced is the one ordained by the saudi government. the oil money is supporting to destruction of the history of the very people that made sure that we are MUSLIM in the 21 century. the practice is not confined to the shiah holy men but to sunni ones to. in Somalia a saudi funded millitia Al-Shabab AKA Al- Harram. i call them Al-harram becouse that is what they practice. thay go to the graives of dead Suffi saints and thais holy follwers, and destroy the graive and dig out the bones. to me As a Somali and a Muslim, i find it very havre to reconceil the words that say `im fighting for islam in Somalia" but at the same time Destroy the evidence that conferms islam was the religion of the Somalia people for a "1000" thousnad years. and a nother phenomnon that came to somalia from the same group is takffer. i realize that my Shia brothers and sisters know that some sunnis consider them non muslim. well it happens among sunnies too. My Allah Stop the Saudi monster and its Allies, Amen

This is really disturbing. They are trying their level best to destroy the past history and i pray to god to make them pay what they have done and am sure in future god's catastrophe will fall on them. Let them try their level best to practice such act but in the end truth will prevail. Being a Muslim country they should try to preserve their history and belongings but they are trying their best to dematerialize the symbols of islam. In India Hindus preserve their vast culture and heritage sites and they make sure that nobody destroys it and when we look at Saudi Arabia our heart cries the most when we look at our own roots being uprooted. Am sure Ahle Baits (A.S) miracles will unveil the truth. Inshallah

Apart from shorter opening timing for Baqee, which inconvienient all Muslim Zaireen from all over the world (only Wahibi don't visit graves, a tiny minority, all other Muslims do). Anyway it has not deterred us, May Allah hasten the return of our 12th Imam a.s. to get rid of these Fitna from this world & fill it with justice. InshaAllah.

SAUDI GOVERNMENT IS FOLLOWING AMERICAN AGENDA; WHICH IS TO DESTROY THE MONUMENTS OF HOLY PROPHET, HIS FAMILY AND OF ISLAM. SAUDIS HAVE ALREADY DEMOLISHED THE GRAVES OF MANY FOLLOWERS LIKE HAZRAT HAMZA, AND THE RELICS IN MECCA. SO IT IS NOT FAR FROM SAUDIS TO DESTROY ALL THAT REMINDS OF THE PROPHET (PBUH).

[removed]void(0);One of the essential characteristics of the religion of Islam is its insistence that when a people recognize Allah Most High as ‘sovereign’ (al-Malik) then they must ensure that the State and all its institutions submit to Allah’s supreme authority and supreme law. If the State, rather than Allah, is recognized as sovereign, and that is the essence of the secularism, Islam declares such to be Shirk (blasphemy) and that is the greatest sin possible.
Around the world today the modern secular State is universally recognized as sovereign. Its authority is recognized as supreme, and so too its law. And so, around the world today mankind is now embraced by a universal political Shirk (blasphemy). This is, in fact, one of the major signs that we now live in the age of Dajjal, the false Messiah or Anti-Christ, who deceived mankind into worshipping other than Allah Most High. He, Dajjal, is the mastermind behind today’s world order about which the Hadith declares that 999 out of every 1000 will enter into the hellfire. But even Muslims seem to be unaware of this.[removed]void(0);

I like your theory. It explains a lot about Holmes/Watson too (both old and new), which, while not incest, always has turn-century-homophobia giving it a charge. Even if the writer doesn't choose to deal with the question of transgression directly, there's always going to be a reason that H&W can't be open about their relationship.
