Thursday, 04 October 2007
The Last Will of Ali ibn Abi Talib (a) On the 19th of the Month of Ramadhan in 40 A.H, the symbol of truth and justice and the most perfect being after the Holy Prophet of Islam (s), Imam Ali (a) was struck by the sword of Ibn Muljim in the altar of the mosque of Kufah as he offered the morning prayer. Imam Ali was the most perfect embodiment of the Islamic Message and a living testimony to the noble precepts that were taught by Prophet Muhammad. As he left this transient world where he faced all kinds of oppression and injustice until the final blow, Imam Ali gathered around him Imam Al-Hasan (a) and Imam Al-Husain (a) and relayed to them his final will. A profound message not only for his sons whom he summoned, but also for those who seek to follow his path.

America's Long Term Plan in Iraq - The Bases Are Loaded Will the U.S. ever leave Iraq? Official policy promises an eventual departure, while warning of the dire consequences of a "premature" withdrawal. But while Washington equivocates, facts on the ground tell another story. Independent journalist Dahr Jamail, and author Chalmers Johnson, are discovering that military bases in Iraq are being consolidated from over a hundred to a handful of "megabases" with lavish amenities. Much of what is taking place is obscured by denials and quibbles over the definition of "permanent." The Bases Are Loaded covers a wide range of topics. Gary Hart, James Goldsborough, Nadia Keilani, Raed Jarrar, Bruce Finley Kam Zarrabi and Mark Rudd all add their observations about the extent and purpose of the bases in Iraq.

Shahr Ramadhan: The Month of Mercy The Holy Month of Ramadhan is a month of reflection, self-refinement and worship. In the modern-world marked by its endless and exclusive attention to material needs, little or no thought is spared to the higher needs of human beings. Islam on the other hand, has made the conciousness and attainment of these higher needs the very emblem of perfection for both individual and society. The month of Ramadhan is that unique period during the year in which Muslims are not only trained to abstain from material pleasures; but are also called on to attend to the higher and loftier needs to which they ought to aspire.
