Award-winning John Pilger film: War On Democracy PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 17 September 2007
Award-winning John Pilger film: War on Democracy The War On Democracy examines the false democracy that comes with western corporations and financial institutions and a war waged, materially and as propaganda, against popular democracy. It is the story of the people I first saw 40 years ago; but they are no longer invisible; they are a mighty political movement, reclaiming noble concepts distorted by corporatism and they are defending the most basic human rights in a war being waged against all of us. In The War On Democracy, the camera sweeps across the Andes in Bolivia to the highest and poorest city on earth, El Alto, then follows Juan Delfin, a priest and a taxi driver, into a cemetery where children are buried. The War On Democracy is about courage and a warning to us all that "for them" nothing has changed, that "blood equals medals".

AIM TV: The Holy Qur'an & Science The unique style of the Qur’an, which was revealed 14 centuries ago, and the superior wisdom it represents are definite proof that it is the word of Allah. Additionally, the Qur’an has many miraculous aspects which prove that it is sent by Allah. One of them is that some scientific facts, which we have only been able to discover by the technology of the 20th century, were stated in the Qur’an 1400 years ago. These facts which could not have been known at the time of the Qur’an’s revelation once again show to the man of today that the Qur’an is the word of Allah.

AIM Al-Qaim Awards of Excellence Time has been an immortal witness to the labors of the march of humanity in its' pursuit of happiness. We, just as those before us, have similarly stepped onto this magnificent 'Stage of Time' featuring the epochal struggle of Man; defining with every passing moment, our unique characters in this 'grand play'. The dawn of the era of technology and globalization has allowed diverse streams of thought and practise to present themselves before us with an ease totally unprecedented in any earlier times. Within this context, Muslims are often questioned about their understanding of reality, this unfolding play and their desired place within it. In view of this, AIM is pleased to launch the second Al-Qaim Awards of Excellence - a humble effort to further the goals of dialogue and to bring to the fore the rich spring of Islamic thought and what it has to offer to resolve contemporary issues facing the global community through creative writing and artistic expression.

The Fakery of General Petraeus PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 11 September 2007
The Fakery of General Petraeus At first sight the Petraeus report looks as if it is going to be one of those spurious milestones in the war in Iraq, (like the Iraq Study Group’s report last December), heavily publicized at the time, but not affecting the political and military stalemate in the country. Unfortunately, the propaganda effort by the White House now underway may have a more malign impact than most propaganda exercises. It claims that victory is possible where failure has already occurred. It manipulates figures and facts to produce a picture of Iraq that is not merely distorted but substantively false. The most basic lack of support for the occupation undermines the elaborate tactics which Gen David Petraeus is supposedly carrying out in Baghdad and elsewhere in Iraq. The US and Britain have been training Iraqi forces for four years now without producing Iraqi units willing to fight alongside them. The difficulty is not equipment or training but legitimacy and loyalty.

Brown Must Now Publicly Oppose Bush's War Drive On Iran PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 30 August 2007
Brown Must Now Publicly Oppose Bush's War Drive On Iran George Bush's address to war veterans in Nevada on 28th August was a carefully choreographed and unambiguous declaration of war on Iran. Bush accused the Iranian government of being behind the insurgency in Iraq as well as assisting the Taliban in Afghanistan. He said "We must confront these dangers before it's too late ... We will fight them over there so we do not have to face them in the United States of America." Bush's repeated labelling of Iran as the "biggest sponsor of terrorism" and his demonisation of Iran's nuclear programme as casting "a shadow of holocaust" over the Middle East is reminiscent of Rice's infamous warning of the danger of Iraqi WMD and the threat of a "mushroom cloud over New York". Gordon Brown must now honour his office by distancing Britain from the US's war plans for Iran and openly denouncing the military option.

Imam Al-Mahdi, the Promised Saviour PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 30 August 2007
Imam Al-Mahdi, the Awaited Saviour When religion asserts that the world will eventually be filled with justice and equity after rampant injustice and oppression, it gives an objective value to this perception by transforming it into faith in the future of humanity. This faith is not merely a source of comfort and solace, it is rather a source of strength and resourcefulness, because the faith in the Mahdi is faith in the removal of injustice and tyranny even if it darkens the entire world and is an inexhaustible source of strength and resistance, as it is a ray of hope which removes despair from the human spirit by keeping the flame of hope lit in gloomy times when injustice assumes monstrous dimensions.

Imam Al-Mahdi: The Awaited Hope for Humanity PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 29 August 2007
Imam Al-Mahdi: The Awaited Hope for Humanity The belief in the Mahdi is not only an essential doctrine deep-rooted in Islamic faith but rather it is an embodiment of human nature regardless of one’s religious affiliations. For it is the universal desire of humans as a whole to try to achieve or at least witness the realisation of the ultimate objective of their existence, through which they will achieve perfection and social happiness in their entirety. Therefore, by reason of inner necessity and inspiration, humans will see a day when society will be replete with justice. More importantly, from a religious perspective the concept of the Mahdi is the culmination of human struggle in their path towards God the Almighty. It is when true Justice will be established through human hands but with Divine succour resulting in the prevalence of truth over falsehood and all its offshoots.
