On Saturday 16th June 2012, as millions of Muslims flocked to Kadhimiyya in Baghdad to commemorate the martyrdom of the 7th Imam of the AhlulBayt, Musa ibn Jafar (as); London also marked the occasion with its own commemorations.
Whilst scores of people were killed in Iraq for marking the occasion, hundreds in London attended an event organised by the English department of the Islamic Centre of England and the AhlulBayt Islamic Mission (AIM).
The event featuring a lecture by Sheikh Mohammed Al-Hilli detailed the life and martyrdom of the infallible Imam more than 13 centuries ago in the dungeons of Baghdad.
Focus was given on the patience and perseverance of Imam Musa Al-Kadhim (as) as well as his revered spiritual status.
The event also featured eulogies recited by Mulla Mohammad Arjanfar who brought heightened emotions and a state of mourning to the heartfelt occasion.
