Hizbullah international relations officer Nawwaf Moussawi said Saturday that
the coming months would witness the crash of the US administration and its
allies in Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon. "The war against Syria has nothing to do
with the International Tribunal and the presidential elections in Lebanon,"
Moussawi said. Instead, he added, the anti-Syrian campaign aimed at "cutting the
roots of the resistance."
In a ceremony celebrating the Prophet's birthday, Moussawi said that the current
authority in Lebanon would not reach an agreement because it had already made a
decision which implied continued confrontation. Guided-missile destroyers, hotel
conferences and other media tricks were only "empty drums" which would be
settled by the resistance's "final word on the ground," he added. In an allusion
to Premier Fouad Siniora, Moussawi said that the end summer war of 2006 which
resulted in the deaths of over 1200 Lebanese, mainly civilians, did not come
about due to "tears for the sympathy of the West," but through the "heroic
resistance."
The resistance, he added, was acknowledged by friend and foe as stronger than
ever before. In his latest speech, Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said
that the opposition was keen on reaching a political settlement to Lebanon's
ongoing crisis. "The opposition is keen on reaching a compromise irrespective of
the summit," he said.
