Israel and the Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah, may engage in a new
war next summer, Israeli security sources have revealed.
“Hezbollah and Israel are increasingly heightening their levels of readiness
against each other,” the sources said in an interview with Nablus TV network.
“Such a situation will increase the probability of a war particularly at a time
when Hezbollah is preparing itself to deal a crushing blow to Israel in response
to the recent incidents,” they expounded according to Press TV's Beirut Bureau
on Saturday.
“Tel Aviv is adopting measures to be able to kill Hezbollah's religious and
political leaders in and out of Lebanon,” they said.
Tensions between the regime and the Lebanese resistance movement have been high
after senior Hezbollah commander Imad Mugniyah was assassinated in a car bomb in
Damascus on Feb. 12.
Israel has denied any involvement in the incident. Hezbollah, however, says the
movement is sure Israel has been involved.
We have '100 percent solid evidence that Israel had killed martyr Mugniyah'
Hezbollah's Deputy Secretary General Sheik Naim Qassem said Saturday.
UNIFEL forces have increased their military exercises in order to be ready for
an extremely sensitive situation, the Israeli sources said.
With the customary 40-day mourning period for Mugniyah ending, Israel, on
Saturday, put its security forces on full alert and beefed up its security and
diplomatic missions abroad.
Hezbollah leader Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah has vowed to avenge Mugniyah's
assassination.
