A Kuwaiti daily says French officials are worried that Mossad is to kidnap
Hezbollah officials attending an inter-factional meeting in Paris.
According to the daily, senior members of French President Nicolas Sarkozy's
government contacted associates of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and warned that
such an action on French soil would lead to deterioration in French-Israeli
relations.
The report, published in al-Seyassah on Saturday said that French intelligence
was alerted to the plan by sources in Israel, as well as sources in Arab
countries, including Jordan.
According to the intelligence, Israel intended to use the captured Hezbollah
representatives as bargaining chips in securing the release of Israeli soldiers
Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser, who were kidnapped by the organization one year
ago, Israeli Jerusalem post news website reported.
Hezbollah delegation in Paris includes former minister in the Lebanese
government Mahmoud Fneish, and Najaf al-Mosawi, Hezbollah's international
representative.
The meetings on Saturday and Sunday between rival Lebanese factions at La Celle
Saint Cloud west of Paris mark the first time the 14 parties have met together
since a national dialogue conference in November failed to resolve the tensions.
