AIM Response to Reform UK on Camp Wilayah

We are aware of a letter issued by Reform UK to the management of Phasels Wood Activity Centre regarding our annual youth retreat, Camp Wilayah.

Our response is below:

This letter is a politically motivated attempt to smear a lawful, faith-based programme that has operated safely and successfully for over a decade at Phasels Wood. The letter presents no evidence, relies on prejudice, and contributes to a broader pattern of targeting Muslim organisations under the guise of self-proclaimed patriotism and entitlement.

Camp Wilayah is not a space for indoctrination or radicalisation. It has never promoted hatred of any kind, and no incident has ever been cited nor any evidence presented to suggest a problem at the camp. All staff are DBS-checked, trained in safeguarding, and understand their responsibilities. The claims being circulated are entirely unrelated to the camp and do not reflect its purpose or content.

As for AIM, we have no relationship with the government of Iran or any other foreign country. We are an independent organisation, guided by our values and mission to serve and uplift. Attempts to suggest otherwise reflect deeply rooted biases.

AIM is a faith-based organisation guided by the teachings of Islam. To speak out against injustice—especially what is happening in Palestine—is not an act of extremism, but a moral and religious duty.
