Foundation Course for learning Qur’an or Arabic language – Starting January 2022

This course is for those who have no previous experience of knowing the Arabic alphabet, its correct pronunciation and the basics of recitation. 

All classes on this level have the same syllabus but will be taught at different paces in accordance to level of ability. 

Students will learn to recognise and read the different letters of the alphabet with the correct pronunciation of Arabic letters and vowel sounds. This will be followed by recognition and recitation of the formation of words and groups of words. This course will help towards meeting the entry requirements for our Learn Qur’an, or Learn Arabic classes.

The classes are currently running on the following dates. Once these classes are fully booked, we will open new classes and inform you of the dates.

Males: Wednesdays 7pm

Females: Tuesdays 6pm

Syllabus:

  • The Arabic Alphabet
  • Different forms of the Arabic alphabet
  • Different vowels in Arabic
  • Sukoon
  • Tanween
  • Silent Letters
  • The connected hamza
  • Joining two letters accompanied by sukoon
  • Short vowels pronounced as long vowels
  • Stopping on words
  • Stopping signs
  • The opening letters

Duration: 36  weeks, 1 hour a week

Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites for this course.

Progression: Depending on level of learning, students will either continue studying this level further, or progress to the next level of the chosen subject, on recommendation of the Teacher 

Assessments

Students will be informally assessed at the end of the course.

Course Delivery

This course is currently being run online. Students are required to turn on their camera when interacting with the teacher.
