On Saturday 14th December, the AhlulBayt Islamic Mission (AIM) joined hands with other Islamic organisations from across the United Kingdom to hold a conference in honour of Sayyida Zainab (a).
Entitled ‘Triumpth through Tragedy’, the conference was hosted at the Hussaini Islamic Centre in Stanmore, London.
Several speakers addressed the conference including; Shaykh Mohammed Al-Hilli who shed light on the inspirational role and personality of Sayyida Zainab (a) and Shaykh Salim Yusufali, from the Hawza Ilmiyya of Qum, who addressed the concept of ‘beauty’ according to this great personality in light of the famous statement made by Sayyida Zaynab (a) in the court of Ubaydallah ibn Ziyad.
Father Nadim, from the Christian community, introduced Saint Mary (a) and Sayyida Zainab (a) as universal icons, and highlighted some prominent characteristics in their personalities.
Also delivering a talk at the conference, Sister Rebecca Masterton spoke about the subject of activism as seen in the life of Sayyida Zainab (a).
The conference also featured the recitation of eulogies and poetry by Mulla Ali Fadhil and Brother Ibrahim Sincere respectively.
At a time in which the shrine of Sayyida Zainab (a) is under threat, the conference was yet another expression of allegiance to this noble personality by those in attendance, and a commitment to follow in her footsteps.
The AhlulBayt Islamic Mission (AIM) expresses its gratitude to Stanmore Jaffery’s and all the other participating organisations who collaborated to put together this conference.
