Statement on moon sighting for beginning of Ramadan 1435 in UK

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Message regarding the first of the Month of Ramadan 1435 in the United Kingdom:
A number of messages have been received requesting clarification on the beginning of the holy Month of Ramadan, may Allah bless all the believers who are eagerly awaiting this month.

Please take note of the following:
According to the fatwa of Ayatollah Khamenei and Ayatollah Sistani, who both do not believe in the sharing of nights but rather in the sharing of one horizon, the first of the month is verified with a sighting of the moon to be witnessed with the eye (and with the assistance of optical aids according to Ayatollah Khamenei).
The Islamic Centre of England, which represents Ayatollah Khamenei in the UK, has declared Sunday 29th June 2014 as the 1st of Ramadan. For more information on this and for any questions regarding the jurisprudential opinions of Ayatollah Khamenei, please contact the Islamic Centre of England directly on +44 207 604 5500
As for the followers of Ayatollah Sistani, who believes there must be a sighting of the moon with the naked eye, there is no such possibility in the UK on the night of Saturday 28th June, and insha’Allah the 1st of Ramadan is on Monday 30th June.
Also, as for the followers of Imam Khomeini and Ayatollah Khoei, who both believe in the theory of sharing nights, there have been numerous verified sightings around the world that share the night with the UK, and therefore, tomorrow Sunday 29th June is the 1st of Ramadan.
May Allah bless everyone and reward them abundantly for the acts of worship in this month and may Allah hasten in the appearance of the Imam of our time.
Wa Min Allah Al-Tawfiq.
Wasalaamu Alaikum
